Virtual Reality Hair Replacement

by Bald Man on March 29th, 2007

This ain’t your grandpa’s bad toupee.” That’s how Virtual Reality, the new toupee process… erm “Four Week Solution” from American Hairlines, was introduced on Good Morning America. I don’t know about this one. Something seems a little off to me. Let’s start with that introduction. I realize I’m just a blogger, but seriously? That’s good morning journalism/entertainment. (I’ll concede and acknowledge the dual nature of shows like GMA.) If so, then I’m way out of touch.

Now check out this guy:

Virtual Reality Comparison

I realize that before and after shots are always touched up, e.g. “Before” shots are always taken without make up after being up for what looks like 48 hours with a cheap cell phone camera, while “After” shots are professional to the last detail. This guy, however, seems to have had some serious time with a personal trainer between shots. You can see other photos at the GMA website.

But neither of those are the rael problem. What makes my spidey-sense tingle is the American Hairlines (No, I didn’t make that up.) Virtual Reality website. Seriously? This is a professionally designed marketing website? I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw a worse site. Start with the background music. Sure you can turn it off… until you click a link. Then it starts again. Now layer on a few dozen visual AND audible rollover effects, and whamo! You’ve got Internet circa 1998. I expected to see Geocities in the URL. If only they had remembered to use the blink tag… I could be done with the Internet for good.

Just the fact that he could improve his looks that much with a little bit of TLC says a lot. I don’t like his new hair style though. I am a hairy guy and I keep my hair buzzed. Makes me look more evolved. ;)

You’re not gonna let that go are you, monkey-boy? ;)

Some of the other “After” photos had me questioning the choice of styling, too.

Virtual Reality Hair is a State of the Art Hair Graft. For I am a client for medical reasons. You jokes that use Hair C**B do not know what you missing, the first time in my life I can let anything happen to me with MY hair on. It is the Lexus of Hair. They are a network of ONLY 80 studios in US and some international. Don’t knock the most advance solution to hair loss until you try it! Shallow minds in muddy water.

    JIM,
Thanks for dropping by with your opinion. If Virtual Reality is legit, that’s fantastic. It sounds like it’s working out great for you, and I wish you nothing but the best. I’ll be certain to check out the article.

I stand by my remark however: a company name like “American Hairlines” and a website full of spastic flash and gubbins don’t present an air of credibility. And if there is one thing that companies in the hair restoration business ought to have it’s credibility.

And if I may correct you gently: I’m not an advocate of the Laser Comb, either. (At least that’s what I think you’re referring too, “Hair C**B”)

I’m just now checking into the virtual reality hair replacement system. Does anybody know how much it costs?

This is the worst you can say about it? You don’t like the website design and the photos look retouched? I know a client, and he swears it’s the closest to real hair he’s ever had. He doesn’t have to care for it, and it doesn’t look like a rug. The proof is in the putting on.
