It’s been a while since I mentioned Locks of Love and one of the hair cutting events that seem to occur with a fair amount of regularity somewhere in the US of A. As a brief review, Locks of Love is a charitable organization that collects hair donations in order to make children’s wigs. These […]

Stories of kids giving their ponytails to Locks of Love just keep popping up. The latest is nine year old Katy McDaniel, a third-grader at St. Anne Catholic School near Beaumont. The 10-inch ponytail was one of the gifts she gave this Christmas.
Merry Christmas and way to go, Katy!

I’m back from a festive Christmas Day, and am pleasantly greeted with the story of Russell Schoemer, a young man of 15 who has recently donated hair to Locks of Love. Like many, Russell has personal motivations for his actions; his grandfather, aunt and a family friend have all been killed by cancer. Another aunt […]

Shoemaker Elementary second-grade teacher Rhonda Williams and her student, Abigail Starnes, got haircuts during class Monday, but it was more than just a simple trim.
More good stories, this time from Tennessee, where Ms. Williams is doing more than teaching her kids readin’, writin’, and ‘rithmetic. In class Monday teacher and student each received hair cuts […]

Christmas is only a week away, and I’ve got another nice story. This one comes from my very own Ohio, and tells of Katie and Megan Cochran, sisters who recently donated their ponytails to Locks of Love. In addition to the sisters. “I can’t imagine how it would feel” not to have hair, said Katie, […]
