Soy Sauce Made From Human Hair?
When I was about 5 years old, I had really long hair and I thought that hair stylists were the enemy. I actually believed that. I was under the impression that they would cut all of my hair off, and sell it on the black market for purposes that hair should not be involved in. Turns out, I was not far off the mark.
There was a company that made shim shod soy sauce a few years ago that contained amino acid syrup. It should be of no surprise, that this syrup contained the hair from humans. Which I suppose is slightly better than certain other proteins that could be used as the base (thank you Barry!). The hair was gathered from salons, barber shops, and local hospitals - see this fear of mine was rational! They then filtered to remove cotton balls, condoms, menstrual pads, and used syringes.
They no longer make this kind of soy sauce, but amino acid syrup is still in use. Which is little consolation.
I have just added another condiment to my list of things to avoid.

it just occurred to me that you may be looking for “Shim-Shod” soy sauce. To my knowledge, there is no such product.
The soy that used the hair based amino acid syrup is no longer using that kind of base.
