Light the Night with a Bald Man
Hey, faithful reader. Let me interrupt you with a brief personal note. My statistics tell me that no small portion of you come here because you or someone you know is experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatment. Well, let me get personal for a moment.
Later this week I’ll be participating in my local Light the Night Walk.
“What’s that?” you ask.
I’m glad you asked. Light the Night is the annual fundraising and awareness walk for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Did you know:
- Every five minutes, someone in this country is diagnosed with blood cancer: Every ten minutes, someone loses the fight.
- Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children.
- Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers.
- The myeloma survival rate is only 32 percent.
It’s amazing how many people are touched by cancer. As I’m am writing this, my daughter came downstairs from bed because she missed her Papa. He died of cancer two years ago. My grandmother, whom I never met, died of cancer. A friend of my daughter beat leukemia. Several of my coworkers have been touched by leukemia or lymphoma.
How can you help
So, I’m participating in the Light the Night walk again this year, and I’m asking for your help.
I’ve set up an online donation page here, and I’m asking you to consider giving a little something to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. To spur you on, I’m making the following matching offer.
I’ll donate $1 for every one of you who donates at least $5… up to $100.
Donations need to be made this week, so what do you say? Can you max out my match? Donations made online go directly to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society via their secure website.
Thanks for taking the time to help out.
[UPDATE] For those of you who would like to participate, but don’t want to use you’re credit card, you can send me a donation via Paypal. My Paypal email is coryaldrich [at] gmail [dot] com. Be sure to put a note that this is for “Light the Night.”

Donation submitted. Have fun on the walk! I know people who have participated in the local one where I live and they say there is a great sense of community among everyone who participates. Fun, sad, inspiring. Sounds like your cup-o-tea.

Thanks, all. LTN is a fantastic event. I’ve done a few walks for various causes over the years and this is probably my favorite. Beautiful route, lots of energy and fun.
