Identical Twins… Almost

Here’s an interesting story form The Courier-mail about a set of identical twins with one striking difference.

DOMINIQUE and Katrina van Hoof are identical twins. From their green eyes and impish features to their size 8 feet they are completely alike.

But in all their 20 years no one has ever had any trouble telling these sisters apart. When she was nine months old Dominique developed a hair-loss condition called alopecia areata.

From a research standpoint, this is generally the sort of thing that makes for very interesting possibilities. We have two people who are genetically identical. Yet, in one alopecia; in the other not. I don’t wish to turn the ladies into a lab experiment, but I find this fascinating. Fascinating!
