Hair Loss & Testicular Pain

Beware of Groin by niallkennedy
Please allow me a bit of a rant. As long as I’m doing penance for the Britney thing, I might as well throw this in, too. It may seem a little mean spirited, but I have talk about this guy.

I am a 21 year old male who has been on Propecia for 3 1/2 months now, and I’m a little worried that some dull pain (perhaps not even ‘pain’, just discomfort) in my groin and left thigh could be the result of the drug.

Now, what is this young man’s biggest concern? No - not the groin pain, which would be the obvious and correct answer. No, no - His big concern remains his hair. The harmless change in appearance that has likely been occurring in men since the dawn of time is of more troublesome to the youngster than the new discomfort in his groin. How do I know? He’s still using Propecia!

You know the old joke, right? Guy walks into a doctor’s office and says, “Doc, my arm hurts when I do this.” So the doc says, “Then don’t do that.”

Something is wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong.

But that’s not what I want to talk about. I kind of slipped into that aside while writing, and as amusing and infuriating as that is to me, I really want to say this:

Men, if you have an unexplained pain in your groin, GO SEE A DOCTOR! Do not consult and Internet doc, a phone-chat doc, a dusty copy of “DIY Diagnosis.” Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200. Get off the couch and go see a doctor IRL! A real one with skin and insurance forms and a waiting room and everything. Get in there, drop trou, and figure out what’s wrong.

Same goes for this guy, too. At least he had the good sense to stop using Minoxidil.

Thanks for bearing with me. I’ll try not to be too cranky tomorrow.
