Dozens Go Bald For St. Baldrick’s
From the York Daily Record, comes this story of people going bald for a good cause.
More than 150 folks - mostly volunteer firefighters - gathered at Union Fire Co. No. 1 in Manchester and shared Pierce’s sentiment as they made their way to a stage where eight hair stylists waited to shave heads. They sacrificed their hair to raise money for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which helps fund more than 230 childhood cancer institutions in the U.S. and several other countries. (link)
St. Baldrick’s (link) raises money for and awareness of children’s cancer by shaving heads on St. Baldrick’s Day (the Thursday before St. Patrick’s Day.) In the last six years, St. Baldrick’s Foundation has raised more than $12 million.
