American Inventor - Profile on Jodi

Here are a couple profiles for American Inventor finalist, and Official Baldiness.com Aspiring Inventor, Jodi Pliszka. The first is a press release from PRWeb.com. Did you know that Jodi is an award-winning children’s author?

Award-winning Nightengale Press author, Jodi Pliszka, who has Alopecia Universalis herself, first wrote her books to guide and inspire children who undergo chemotherapy and children with Alopecia Areata, Totalis, or Universalis, who lose their hair and instantly feel different. Some children feel outcast, some feel depressed and some learn to accept and move on. But the process of developing her mission in life was not an over-night phenomenon.

The second profile comes from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Sounds like Jodi is a Wisconsin native and current resident.

Pliszka’s story of late isn’t sad at all, thanks to her self-confidence and successes. But it was a different story when she was just 13 and started to lose patches of hair. She’d get shots in her hips and scalp, which would help temporarily. But the day after an accident on her 20th birthday, all her hair fell out - even eyelashes.

Psychologically, it hurt.

“The world was black. Everything was negative,” she said. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in psychology, she left her sorrows and an abusive relationship by moving to Ohio, where life began to brighten.

Jodi will be featured in the May 4th episode of American Inventor.
