Alopecia Sufferer in Miami Valley Idol Finals
I have to mention this one, since it’s local to me. Stephanie Burke is representing Dayton in the finals of the “Miami Valley Idol” singing competition.
“When I was in my freshman year at high school my hair began falling out, dime size patches at first. But things got worse, and eventually doctors diagnosed that the hair loss was caused by an autoimmune disease known as alopecia. It was an awful and a stressful time in my life as my hair just fell out.”
Guess what Stephanie’s day job is?
Hairdresser.
Go Stephanie!

This very mature young woman is my very best friend. I have known her since she was in grade school. She has been thru a lot with this disease and has managed to overcome it all!!! I am so very proud of the confident person that she has grown into.
