Agassi’s Wimbledon Off To Good Start
Andre Agassi’s final Wimbledon appearance got off to a good start today. He defeated 1st Round opponent Boris Pashanski 2-6, 6-2. 6-4, 6-3. On the eve of the tournament, the “Rebel” announced he would be retiring at the conclusion of this year’s US Open. He faces Italian Andreas Seppi in the 2nd Round.
I remember watching Agassi back in 1992, the year he won Wimbledon. I was playing in a youth soccer tournament, and we all sat in the hotel lobby between games watch the duel between him and Goran Ivanisevic (Yes, I had to look up the spelling.) As I recall it was the top serve in the game against the top return.
And the hair. How can you forget Agassi’s flowing mane… or his graceful acceptance of baldness! I know who I’m cheering for.
