Christmas is only a week away, and I’ve got another nice story. This one comes from my very own Ohio, and tells of Katie and Megan Cochran, sisters who recently donated their ponytails to Locks of Love. In addition to the sisters. “I can’t imagine how it would feel” not to have hair, said Katie, […]

Mukul Sharma has a nice article at Mid-Day, sort of a Hair 101. He covers most of the basics:
Hair growth and the life cycle of the hair follicle
A bit on age related hair loss
Hair color… including graying
A bit on why hair is variously curly, straight, or something in between

“Following her heart and the example of her Aunt Chrissy, 7-year-old Cheyanne Ruff had 13 inches of her long, blond hair cut off Thanksgiving Day for Locks of Love.”
Roy Church has another story of kindness in the Wabash Plain Dealer.

Carla Johnson at The Prescott Herald has evidence that US culture is changing. The rising ethnically diversity in both the general population and within the ranks of dermatologist is resulting in greater focus on the medical differences among the various skin and hair types. Jane Cohen has a lovely story in The Mirror about 8-year old Nikkita Gibson and her mom Louise, both of whom have alopecia. “I wish I had her courage. I still don’t feel comfortable going out without a wig.” Take the moment and read their story.
UPDATE: GMTV has another story focusing on Nikkita and Louise.
